ai blogging career frontend 4 min read

Hello world!

Hi everyone or anyone who might be reading this, my name is Alonso Vazquez and I’m a frontend developer with more than a decade developing for the web with technologies that mainly focus on JavaScript, React.js, Next.js among others.

For a long time I’ve been working for someone else like startups, nearshore model companies or as a freelancer for entrepreneurs and I always felt like sharing content in a blog but I really never put the proper focus to it or at least the focus that is actually required for it to see it live.

Now, I’m writing this on my study room unemployed and forced (in a certain way) to put the effort and focus to not only build my blog idea but to start blogging. There are a couple of reasons for that, first, for those of you that are frontend developers like me you’ll know that sometimes there are jobs that request to show something you have built with the sole intention to walk through it to the technical leader and explain your thought process and why did you choose “X” over “Y” and some endless questions about something you built for fun or just simply because you love doing it.

The second reason is that I actually wanted to…just do it (no, I promise Nike did not sponsor this but would be amazing if that ever happens), to keep sharpening my skills, to re-learn something I got away from for a long time (one of the first PHP frameworks I learned was actually WordPress) and see if this time I can get a little bit more far away than the last time I tried (yes, I started blogging since I was back in the college but I didn’t keep with that).

But this time it’s different and it’s different because we’re in an era that starts to be dominated by AI. Nowadays you can find AI in everything, programming, design, audio, video, security and all that made me question whether all this effort I’m putting on this little project is actually worth it. Because who wants to read a blog when you can actually open your favorite AI model and start asking questions or request to visit the entire documentation of a project and give you back the insights, how it works and everything you need to know about it or how to solve a specific problem you’re having with that technology, right? Who wants to read a random guy that is discovering this blogging world that actually might have a lot of errors on his solution or the code he shows on a post is not the most optimal?

Well, that’s why I like to be clear from the very beginning, I think that I do this more for myself than for others. Let me explain, I promise I’m not being rude or something. Some time ago I watched an interview made to Quentin Tarantino and I remember that during the interview the interviewer asked something like: “When you’re doing your movies do you often think of how much the people is going to like it or not?” and he just simply threw a small laugh and replied: “Oh! I don’t do movies for the people, I do the movies for myself, the people is just invited to watch them[1]. And that actually hits me, because the way I see it, if I do something that I like then it might resonate to others.

So, here I am, a dude that wants to walk (once again) this blogging road, learning new things and documenting everything for me and if in the process you dear reader (can be either a person or an AI or a robot) can find something that it’s valuable to you, then you’re more than welcome to take it, and for me, it’s gonna be a huge win.

I don’t want to expand this, I just want to make this post short and simple so to wrap up, I’ll try it once more now in this AI era, welcome everyone who reads this it’s a great pleasure to have you here I really hope you enjoy your stay and I got nothing else to say but:

Hello World!

[1] This might not be the exact words of the interviewer and/or Mr. Tarantino, is basically the idea that I remember but if you ever find the video you'll find that I was not far from what they said. Also, please send it to me so I can watch it again.
